West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee thinks BJP candidate Draupadi Murmur is more likely to win the upcoming Indian presidential election.
He was speaking at the ISKCON Rath Utsav in Kolkata on Friday (July 1).
There has a stir in Indian political circles over the ‘de facto support’ of the Trinamool leader’s BJP
candidate instead of Yashwant Sinha, the BJP candidate of his choice.
On the same day, Mamata said, “If the BJP known in advance that they were fielding an indigenous woman,
we would have tried.”
I have a special passion for women. In politics, of course, men and women; Everyone is there.
- (In my case) they may never consider that. That’s not it; In the interest of the country,
- we could have taken a decision with 16 or 16 opposition parties. It would be better to have a candidate in the larger interest.
- But when the BJP got the call, they just wanted to know our candidate. They did not say anything about the candidate.
- He also claimed that “after the change of power in Maharashtra,
- the BJP-led NDA alliance candidate Draupadi Murmur is more likely to win the presidential election.”
After Mamata’s remarks, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury harshly criticized her.
Stirring the Trinamool-BJP alliance, he said, “There may be some pressure from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Maybe Modi has explained to Didi, it will be good for you. If not, there is no point in making this change of own sister.
After knowing about everything of his sister, he gave his candidature. ‘
As expected from the BJP, Mamata’s remarks followed a lighter tone.
BJP leader Shamik Bhattacharya says, “Some people can bring BJP (Trinamool) theory about the presidential election.
But Mamata Banerjee understands the tension of the ground, so (said). He also understands the tribal vote in the state. ‘
And with this, Sujan Chakraborty is once again getting the smell of BJP-Trinamool alliance.
He said, ‘I think the cat in the bag came out once more.
We have been saying for a long time that the position of the BJP against the
Chief Minister as an opposition party is not clear,
it suffers from double standards. What did he say today? ‘
He lashed out at Mamata and said, “I am more enterprising than the opposition.
After discussing there, the candidate decided and the nomination submitted.
The candidate known as a grassroots man.
Today, he says, if the BJP had said earlier, he could have supported the BJP candidate.
It was very clear that he was not a credible opposition candidate. As we have said, it has become clearer today. ‘🔱
