Two newborns born at the Domar Upazila Health Complex in Nilphamari have been named Padma and Setu on the auspicious occasion of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge.

They were born on Saturday (June 25) at the Operation Theater of the Upazila Health Complex between 11am and 12pm. At present mothers and newborns are healthy.

The child named Padma is the daughter of Abdul Alim and Rozina Begum of Chhotrauta Pram of the upazila.

The bridge is the son of Sadiq Imran and Arfana Akter of Dakshin Ambari village in the same upazila.

Tahmina Akhter said, “I really wanted to watch the inauguration ceremony of the much awaited Padma Bridge today.”

But at that time I had a caesarean operation with my colleagues in the operating theater. As a result, I could not watch the colorful program.

At that time, two newborns were born in the operating theater. Later I suggested to the families of the two newborns to name them Padma and Setu.

They agree. Later, the two children named Padma and Setu.

Setu’s father Sadiq Imran (30) said, Setu is my first child. I named it Padma Bridge because it was born on the day of its inauguration.

I am proud to name my child after Padma Bridge, a symbol of self-respect of the people of the country.

Padma’s mother Rozina Begum said, “The hospital authorities and our family are very happy to name our daughter Padma.”
