In the first ODI of the three-match series, India did not let the host Zimbabwe stand. Lokesh Rahul’s team defeated the hosts by 10 wickets at the Harare Sports Ground on Friday. Bangladesh cricket team got a chance to breathe a sigh of relief in this victory of India.

The Tigers lost 12 matches in a row against the neighboring country in the ODI edition. Today was India’s 13th win in a row against Zimbabwe. The Asian giants have not got so many consecutive wins against any other team in ODIs. Earlier, India had won 10 consecutive ODIs against Zimbabwe.

This time India took their record of consecutive wins against the Zimbabweans to a unique height. The team has the most consecutive wins against New Zealand after Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. Indians have won 11 consecutive ODIs against the Kiwis.

Zimbabwe lost the toss and went into bat for 189 runs. In response, opening batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill’s unbroken 192-run partnership led India to a great victory. This is the second-highest opening partnership in matches for India to win by 10 wickets. The previous one was 197 runs.

Dhawan, Shubman both had chances of century. But both had to leave 22 yards for not out in the eighties as Zimbabwe made ‘little’ runs. Dhawan remained unbeaten on 81 and Shubman 82 runs. However, pacer Deepak Chahar, who crushed Zimbabwe’s top order with three wickets, was the man of the match.
