Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli’s 9-month old daughter was also threatened with rape by a Twitter user who has now landed in police net. The IP address of the person is reportedly traced to within Qatar and the case is under investigation in Mumbai.
According to NDTV report, a threat was made on Twitter against Kohli’s daughter saying “she will be raped”. It mentioned that the tweet has been reported from Doha, Qatar from an account named Abdullah_m_ali022. The said tweet were then re-tweeted by former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif.
The CM of Maharashtra even tweeted the screenshot of the said message and tagged ICC (International Cricket Council) for taking some action.
Now Zainab Abbas who is an Indian actor also tweeted about this issue saying that it is difficult to be a woman in India where even Aaradhya Di isn’t spared from these sexual predators. She tagged Virat Kohli, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and ISL (Indian Super League).
Just to inform everyone, the person who wrote this about an 8-month old child is still walking free on twitter. Is @TwitterSupport not responsible enough? pic.twitter.com/NzFbtaHh1G — Zainab Abbas (@ZAbbasOfficial) May 29, 2018
Not just that but even former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif tweeted about it saying “That’s tough man! So angry at the sick mentality! Ashamed to be a part of this society.” Even his wife Reeva Solanki has made sure her views are expressed by tagging BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), TNPL (Tamil Nadu Premier League) and CSK (Chennai Super Kings).
Now the Mumbai police has arrested the person who threatened Kohli’s daughter. The arrest was made by cyber cell unit of Thane city police with the help of Twitter India. Reportedly there are charges against the man are under section 354 A of IPC (Whoever, intending to insult the modesty of any woman, utters any word, makes any sound or gesture) and 67 of IT Act.
With such an incident taking place it is so sad to see that Indian cricketers have been targeted as well. The men in blue who reached Champions Trophy final were trolled for losing the title and now it’s the women cricketers time here for getting trolled. The matter has not just created a stir on social media but also grabbed attention from BCCI and who will look into the matter.
